Zelestra has brought three new solar plants online in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. The Belinchón I, II and III projects, located in Cuenca, have a combined capacity of 162 MW.
Delivered by Zelestra’s in-house EPC team in under 14 months, the projects supported around 400 jobs during construction. Now operational, they are expected to avoid more than 42,700 tons of CO2 emissions annually. In total, 275,000 solar modules were installed across the three plants, on a single-axis tracker system to maximize production.
The Belinchón projects are backed by a long-term multi-buyer power purchase agreement (PPA) through the Energize program, a supply chain decarbonisation initiative managed by Schneider Electric. Energize brings together leading pharmaceutical companies, sponsored by Takeda Pharmaceuticals International AG, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, and UCB, alongside suppliers, Avantor, Organon LLC, Perrigo, and West Pharmaceutical Services Inc. The collaboration supports reductions in scope 2 and scope 3 emissions across the pharmaceutical value chain.
In June 2023, Grenergy Renovables had agreed to sell 100% of its Belinchón solar PV complex to a European IPP.
The Taaleri SolarWind III Fund, Taaleri Energia’s sixth renewable energy fund, has reached final close with EUR 630 million in total commitments (including EUR 74 million in co-investment commitments).
