SSE completes the sale of three wind farm developments to Blue Energy

SSE has completed the sale of three Scottish wind farm developments namely Cour, Blackcraig and Whiteside Hill to Blue Energy for an undisclosed sum.

Whiteside Hill and Blackcraig wind farms are located in Dumfries and Galloway and Cour is located in Argyll and Bute. The three wind farms will have a combined installed capacity of up to 98.7 MW once constructed.

The sale sees ownership and responsibility for constructing the three wind farms, which all have planning consent, transfer to Blue Energy with immediate effect. Under the sale agreement, responsibility for setting up and managing the community investment funds associated with each project will be transferred over to Blue Energy.

Martin Pibworth, SSE’s Managing Director, Wholesale, stated:

“We are pleased to confirm the sale of our Cour, Blackcraig and Whiteside Hill onshore wind farm projects to Blue Energy. The sale represents the next step, following the recent sale of Langhope Rig wind farm, in a programme of disposals to recycle capital and optimise our wind farm pipeline. The proceeds from the disposal of these three projects will help to support our future investments in new renewable energy assets.”

Chris Dean, CEO of Blue Energy commented:

“We are delighted to complete the acquisition of the Blackcraig, Whiteside Hill and Cour wind farms from SSE. This major strategic investment expands our UK wind farm portfolio to over 260 MW and emphasises our confidence in and commitment to the UK renewable energy sector”
