CE Construction Pvt. Ltd. has contracted SMEC to provide hydraulic, geotechnical, and structural design, as well as construction drawing services for the 100 MW Super Trishuli Hydroelectric Project located on the Trishuli River in Nepal's Central Development Region. The facility will involve the construction of a barrage between abutments and a side intake into the river.
The Hydroelectric Project is designed as a run-of-river scheme with a dam-toe powerhouse arrangement and diurnal bondage to meet energy demand during two different peak hours. The scheme will generate 100.5 MW, utilizing the design discharge of 849.78 cubic meters per second and a rated head of 14.1 created by the barrage structure. It is expected to provide 498 million units of energy annually, which will help alleviate acute power shortages experienced by the people of Nepal.
SNC-Lavalin Engineering India Pvt Ltd previously prepared the feasibility study and detailed project report. The SMEC team will work with CE Construction as design consultant to EPC Contractor. Construction is expected to take approximately four years.
