Six winners in 500 MW wind tender in India
A 500 MW wind tender conducted by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has attracted bids as low as INR2.85 (US$0.044)/kWh. The maximum tariff permitted in the tender was INR3/kWh (US$0.046).

Sterlite Power buys out its transmission business
Sterlite Power has acquired a 28.4% stake in its transmission infrastructure business from Standard Chartered Private Equity (SCPE) for INR10.1 billion (US$157 million). With this acquisition, Sterlite Power holds 100% stake in the business.

SECI launches tenders for over 4000 MW renewable projects
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has launched three separate tenders for renewable energy projects which altogether entail the development of 4070 MW. The authority is seeking developers for 2000 MW wind power projects and 2000 MW solar photovoltaic projects at locations proposed by bidders, plus a 70 MW solar PV park in the northern state of Assam.

India surges forward with solar power development with 2225 MW tenders
In November 2017, solar tender and auction activity in India plummeted. In response, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy set out plans to tender 3 GW of solar projects in January 2018. Despite the bold scale of the plans, the ministry seems to be keeping its word.
