The Russian government has awarded a total of 1.65 GW of wind power in the tender that started in late May.
The Fortum-RUSNANO consortium has been awarded a total of 1,000 MW in the Russian auction. Rosatom, has won the rights to build another 360 MW in capacity, while Italian utility Enel seccured 291 MW.
The Fortum-RUSNANO will deliver 26 projects between 2018 and 2022 with a price corresponding to approximately €115-135 (US$129-151) per MWh.
On the other hand, Enel will be in charge of the development of the Azov and Murmansk wind farms, with an overall investment of approximately €405 million (US$453 million).
The Azov wind farm, which is expected to enter into service by 2020, is located in the Rostov region, in Southern Russia, and will have a 90 MW installed capacity, generating around 300 GWh per year and avoiding the emission of around 99,200 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
The Murmansk wind farm, located in the Northwestern Russian region bearing the same name, is expected to enter into service by 2021 and will boast a 201 MW installed capacity, generating around 730 GWh per year and avoiding the emission of around 241,400 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
A total of 1,900 MW for the years 2018-2022 was available in the Russian wind auctions held from 29 May to 9 June 2017. The bids in the auction totalled 2,491 MW.
