Brazilian energy company, Cactus Energia Verde, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Ceara in Brazil to develop a green hydrogen production facility that is powered by 3.6 GW solar offshore wind.
The Cactus hydrogen project, with an investment value of EUR5 billion (USD5.67 billion), will be constructed within the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex. It is designed to operate through the green energy produced from the 2.4 GW Uruquê Photovoltaic Park, to be installed in the municipalities of Jaguaretama and Umari, and the 1.2 GW offshore wind farm located off the coast of Camocim.
Scheduled for construction in early 2023, the project will have the capacity to produce 10,500 tons of hydrogen and 5,250 tons of green oxygen per month.
