MoU signed for 10 GW Onshore wind project in Egypt

Masdar, along with Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a 10 GW onshore wind project in Egypt.

Upon completion, the 10 GW wind farm will generate 47,790 GWh of clean energy annually and offset 23.8 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which is approximately 9 percent of Egypt's current CO2 emissions.

The wind farm will save Egypt US$5 billion annually on natural gas and create 100,000 employment. Approximately 3,200 jobs will be added for operation and maintenance following construction.
