Mitsubishi subsidiary to acquire stake in 370 MW Belgian offshore project

Mitsubishi Diamond Offshore Wind Holdings II BV, wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan-based Mitsubishi Corp is seeking to acquire stake in the 370-MW Norther offshore wind project located in Belgian North Sea.

Mitsubishi, jointly with Eneco Wind Belgium NV and Elnu NV are interested in controlling Norther NV, the project company. Northern NV is a joint venture between Eneco Holding NV and Belgium’s Elicio NV which are the respective owners of Eneco Wind Belgium and Elnu. The commission is expected to respond to the application by November 22, 2016.

Vestas Offshore Wind has been selected as the supplier of wind turbines for the project.

As we reported in late May, the European Investment Bank (EIB) is mulling providing project financing for the Norther offshore wind project in Belgian North Sea.
