Latin America Power to build 138.6 MW wind farm in Chile

Latin America Power, through its special purpose vehicle Rihue SpA, has filed an environmental impact declaration for a 138.6 MW wind farm in Negrete, Biobio region (Chile).

The company has plans to start construction works on the project by early 2017.

The project comprises the development of  42 wind turbines. It also involves the development of an associated 220-kV transmission facilities to the Mulchen substation, which is part of the central Chilean grid.

The total project investment is estimated at US$290 million.

Latin America Power (LAP) was born in early September 2011, as a power generation company aiming to improve the energy matrix for Chile and Peru using renewable sources. As of December 2014, Latin America Power's portfolio has reached 19 projects, which include seven in operation, two in construction, six in preparation prior to construction and four at the development stage.
