Jacobs to Support 3.5 GW/4.5 GWh Solar plus Battery Energy Storage System in Philippines

Terra Solar Philippines Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC), has selected Jacobs to deliver engineering services, technical advice, and construction phase services, for a 3.5 GW Terra Solar project and 4.5 GW battery energy storage system (BESS).

Jacobs will leverage advanced digital construction tools and drone technology to efficiently manage field operations, conduct site inspections, and monitor progress across the 11.5-square-mile (3,000-hectare) site located 93 miles (150 km) north of Manila. The company will also oversee supply chain logistics and equipment deliveries, ensuring the timely production, inspection, transportation, and installation of millions of solar panels.

The project aims to reduce the Philippines’ reliance on coal and promote cleaner energy. The estimated PHP 200 billion (US$3.3 billion) MTerra Solar project is poised to become one of the world’s largest solar farms and is expected to supply around 12% of the Philippines’ total energy demand when complete.
