China, the largest carbon emitter in the world, is expected to install 54 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity by the end of this year.
This exceeds in 80 percent points the analysts' expectations of the installation of 30 GW of solar power in China by 2017.
China, added 35.54 GW last year, reaching a total installed capacity of 77.42 GW. Then in the first nine months of 2017, China has installed 43 GW of solar power, so the country has already exceeded its 13th Five-Year-Plan (2016-2020) target of 105GW.
According to sources, this record-high solar capacity additions will be boosted by the increase of rooftop solar projects and the development of ground-mounted PV plants.
The growth of the solar market has benefited top panel producers such as JinkoSolar Holding Co. and Trina Solar. Last year, the Chinese company Jinko Solar became the largest manufacturer of photovoltaic modules in the world, surpassing its main competitor Trina Solar, another powerful firm of the Asian giant.
