Invenergy completes sale of Interest in Wake Wind Energy Center to Southern Power

Invenergy has announced the sale of a controlling interest in its 257 MW Wake Wind Energy Center to Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power.

According to sources, Invenergy has sold a 90.1% stake in the wind project located in Texas (USA) for a total amount of US$469 million. Invenergy will own the remaining interest in the project and will operate and maintain the facility.

Wake Wind is located approximately 10 miles northeast of the city of Crosbyton, 50 miles east of Lubbock. The facility consists of 150 GE 1.715 MW wind turbines. Construction was completed and the facility reached full commercial operations earlier this month.

In April this year, we reported that Invenergy Wind LLC achieved financial close for the wind energy project.

Blattner Energy Inc. was the project’s contractor for civil/mechanical scope and the transmission line, while EPC Services was the contractor for the electrical substation.
