Flow Power has signed a foundational offtake agreement with clean energy fund manager and developer, Octopus Australia, for the upcoming Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery project, located in NSW, on pastoral land approximately 8km north-east of Bungendore, and 32km north-east of Canberra, Australia.
The agreement marks a significant collaboration between two of Australia’s most progressive renewable energy market leaders, reinforcing a shared mission to deliver cost-efficient, firmed renewables for Australia’s grid.
The announcement follows Octopus Australia’s financial close on the AUD900 million (US$639.3 million) Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery project in Bungendore, NSW. The next-generation hybrid solar and battery project will combine 300 MW of solar with a 243 MW/486 MWh battery, ensuring more clean energy can be generated, stored and delivered to the grid during evening peaks.
The facility is expected to be able to power more than 120,000 homes for 24 hours. Approximately 600,000 solar panels are located within more than 600 hectares of farmland. Once operational, the project will avoid 600,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions (equivalent to 300,000 petrol vehicles off the road).
RES has received federal approval for its 436.5 MW Tarong West onshore wind farm located approximately 30 km west of Kingaroy, Australia.
