ENGIE obtained commercial operation authorization from the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) for the last three of a total of 11 wind farms in the Campo Largo 2 Wind Farm, in the municipalities of Umburanas and Sento Sé, in Bahia. With an investment of BRL1.6 billion (USD308.17 million), the project added 361.2 MW to the Company's portfolio and to the national electricity system.
The construction of the Campo Largo 2 Wind Power Complex began in July 2019 and the first wind turbines began to be assembled in July 2020, an activity carried out in parallel with the expansion of the substation and implementation of medium voltage networks. The commercial operation of the first wind farm took place in February 2021 and, in August, the assembly of the 86 wind turbines and the commissioning of all the machines were completed.
Eduardo Sattamini, CEO and Investor Relations Officer at ENGIE Brazil Energy, said: “The existing synergies in the region, including the use of the same substation, transmission line, construction site infrastructure and internal accesses, made it possible to accelerate the delivery of this project."
Approximately 4,600 tons of steel and 47,000 m³ of concrete were used during construction, in addition to the implementation of 75 km of internal accesses and 101 km of medium voltage networks, with more than a thousand poles.
