The leader in the wind energy sector, the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN) will receive more investments to generate clean energy. Company EDP Renováveis (EDP) has presented to the state government the project of introduction of 20 wind parks in the next five years. EDP was the company that won the auctions promoted by the federal government for the introduction of wind energy in the RN.
The new project involves the construction of four complexes and 20 new wind farms, reaching cities which previously did not benefit from renewable energy. The municipalities in this stage will be Jandaíra, Touros, Lajes, São Tomé, Cerro Corá, Pedra Preta and Pedro Avelino.
EDP already operates eight parks in the municipalities of Parazinho, Jandaíra and Touros.
