Deadline for Pakistan mega power project extended until Oct. 31

The Government of Pakistan has extended the deadline of the request for expressions of interest (RFEOI) to develop 6,600 MW of power projects at Pakistan Power Park at Gadani Balochistan.

The present government, as part of its efforts to generate low-cost electricity, plans to construct a Power Park at Gadani Balochistan with ten projects of 660 MW each (6600 MW).

The Ministry sources had previously said two 660 MW each coal fired power project would be installed by the public sector.

The government has set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), called Pakistan Power Park Management Company Limited (PPMCL), to develop these two projects and supervise the rest. The SPV will complete all common facilities including Jetty for import of coal, switchyard, ash disposal, cooling water, transmission infrastructure and residential facilities.

According to the government’s announcement, the plants will be based on imported coal.

Detailed terms and conditions are available in the EOI document that can be obtained from the Power and Infrastructure Board office.

Interested parties must submit their expressions of interest on or before 31 October 2014.
