The Government of Pakistan (GOP) through the Private Power & Infrastructure Board has extended the deadline for the 80 MW Neckherdim - Paur hydropower project and for the 58 MW Turtonas - Uzghor hydropower project.

The new deadline to submit proposals for both hydropower projects has been extended from 13 October 2014 to 27 November 2014.

The proposed Turtonas-Uzghor is located on River Golen Gol which is a left bank tributary of Mastuj River. It joins with Mastuj river about 22 km north-east of Chitral Town.

See project profile:

The proposed Neckherdim - Paur is located on Yarkun river which is about 70 km north-east of Mastuj Town and 178 km north east of Chitral Town.

Pakistan is a water-rich country and is endowed with a hydropower potential of more than 60,000 MW. The GOP is trying to facilitate and encourage private investors for promoting hydropower generation in the country and has allowed private sector to develop hydropower projects on Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The first private sector hydropower project (84 MW) was commissioned in March 2013 whereas the second private sector hydropower project (147 MW) has entered into construction phase after achieving its financial close successfully in December 2012. Other hydropower projects with accumulative capacity of about 5,000 MW are at advance stages of development.
