Anumar has announced the commercial operation of its 120 MWp Schornhof photovoltaic solar project in Bavaria, Germany. Located in the municipality of Berg im Gau, the PV solar project is the largest solar park in southern Germany.
The project has a total area of 144 hectares and is able to generate up to 100,000 kWp, enough to supply electricity to around 30,000 households. The Schornhof PV plant has secured two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Statkraft for 90 MW, a large part of the produced electricity.
With a total investment cost of EUR60 million (US$70.23 million), the project will avoid approximately 76,800 t of CO2 annually. Anumar is also a system operator and creates long-term local jobs in the field of green maintenance and electrical service. In addition, the municipal council in Berg im Gau has already voted for the expansion of the solar park. It includes an additional 60 ha, making a total area of the project 200 ha, where a system with an output of up to 60 MWp will be installed by Anumar in 2022.
Andreas Klier, commercial managing director, said: "Many pieces of the mosaic had to be put together before construction of the solar park could begin in spring 2020. The result is forward-looking: this power plant proves that solar power with market production costs is profitable even without EEG subsidies and thus makes a significant contribution to the industry-friendly and socially acceptable energy transition."
