Brazil's Companhia Hidro Elétrica do São Francisco (Chesf) has completed all the electric power transmission works required to lease the production of the wind farms operating in the Northeast of the country.
With an investment of BRL636 million (US$201 million), a total of 2,895 MW has been added to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
Some of the most significant wind projects include 1.163 MW Pindai II/Igapora projects in Bahia state as well as Lagoa Nova (398 MW) and Ibiapina (153 MW), in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceara, respectively.
Currently, wind power meets a daily average of 45% of Northeastern Brazil's demand.
Chesf is one of the largest investors in the field of Transmission and Generation of electric energy in Brazil. From 2014 until now, it has already energized 17 large substations, all in the Northeast, the main area of operation of the Company, as well as three more energized substations, in which the Company is a partner.
