Brazil's power sector regulator Aneel has given the green light to develop 127 MW of the 583 MW Campos Neutrais Wind Complex.
Specifically, the regulator has authorized 9 wind projects, which are controlled by subsidiaries of Eletrosul and Renobrax Energia Renovaveis.
The complex is located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and is expected to be largest in Latin America. It will be composed by 302 wind turbines in an area of 10.800 hectares.
The total project investment is estimated at BRL3.5 billion (US$899.4 million).
The complex includes the 258 MW Geribatu Complex, the 181 MW Hermenegildo Complex, and the 144 MW Chui Wind Complex.
