Armenia's Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources has received applications from 20 different bidders from China, USA, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Iran and other countries for the construction of the 50 MW solar project near the village of Masrik in the province of Gegharkunik.
As we reported in late May, Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund by the request of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of RA launched a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking private developers or consortia to design, finance, build, own, and operate the grid-connected 55 MWp Masrik-1 solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant project.
According to the ministry, companies that will have passed the preliminary selection phase, will be allowed to take part in the price tender. Preference will be given to the company that presents the lowest and most competitive price proposal. The tender is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of next year.
The solar project will require an investment of between US$40 million and US$60 million. The project could be expanded to 100 MW at a later stage, depending on the investor’s interest.
