Argentina awards 1.3GW power projects

The Ministry of Energy and Mining, under a Resolution of the Ministry of Electric Power No. 926/2017, has awarded nine projects for a total of 1,304 MW of gas-fired power and co-generation facilities. Specifically, the Ministry has awarded:

  • Two projects to Generación Mediterránea SA (138 MW project located in Ezeiza in the province of Buenos Aires and 113 MW project in Río Cuarto, province of Córdoba).
  • 370 MW project to Pampa Energía group in Marcos Paz, Buenos Aires province. 
  • Two projects to YPF (72 MW project located in La Plata and a 198 MW project in El Bracho, province of Tucumán).
  • Three projects to the MSU group (two 209 MW projects located in Buenos Aires and a third 99 MW project in Villa María, province of Córdoba).
  • One 105 MW project to the Araucaria Generation group in San Pedro province of Buenos Aires.

The total private investment for these projects is estimated at more than US$1,600 million. It is expected that all the awarded projects will be in operational in the first half of 2020.
