ABO Wind has completed the sale of the 514.6 MW Buffalo Plains onshore wind farm located in Alberta, Canada to an undisclosed investor.
The project will have 83 6.2-MW wind turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa that will be installed on about 17,500 acres of privately owned farmland. The wind farm has the capacity to generate 1,500 GW hours of electricity enough to power the equivalent of 240,000 Alberta homes and is expected to displace more than 795,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
Alberta Utility Commission has recently released construction permits for the project. The construction of the project is expected to create 300 contractual jobs as well as up to 15 permanent jobs.
