Viet Lao Power Joint Stock Company (VIETLAOPOWER) is a Vietnamese-Laotian energy enterprise formed in 2003 under a bilateral energy cooperation agreement between Vietnam and Laos. Its primary mission is to invest in and develop hydropower projects in Laos—particularly under Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) models—exporting electricity to Vietnam while also contributing to Laos’s domestic energy supply. Over time, its scope has expanded to include solar power, transmission lines, substations, and related infrastructure development, as well as consulting and construction services in power systems and other civil sectors. With a charter capital of VND 4,377 billion, its shareholders include major public and private entities such as Song Da Corporation, PetroVietnam Power, and financial institutions. Its current assets comprise several hydropower plants (such as Xekaman 1 and Xekaman 3), a high-voltage transmission link, and a hotel-office complex in Vientiane that functions as its operating headquarters in Laos. VIETLAOPOWER positions itself as a key player in Vietnam-Laos energy cooperation and aims to be a leading green energy company in the region, contributing to sustainable development and cross-border energy security.
