Litgrid is the electricity transmission system operator (TSO) of Lithuania, responsible for operating, maintaining, and developing the country's high-voltage electricity transmission network while ensuring the secure and reliable flow of electricity. Established in 2010 and headquartered in Vilnius, the company manages electricity transmission, system balancing, grid control, infrastructure development, and the integration of renewable energy into the national power system. Litgrid also plays a pivotal role in developing Lithuania's electricity market and in implementing strategic energy infrastructure projects, including cross-border interconnections such as NordBalt (Sweden–Lithuania) and LitPol Link (Lithuania–Poland), as well as synchronizing the Baltic electricity system with the Continental European grid. The company is 97.5% owned by EPSO-G, the state-controlled energy transmission and exchange group under Lithuania's Ministry of Energy, with the remaining shares publicly listed on the Nasdaq Vilnius exchange. Guided by its mission to accelerate energy independence and strengthen system security, Litgrid is a key enabler of Lithuania's transition to a resilient, sustainable, and integrated European energy system.
