Juneau Hydropower is a local renewable energy company. It was first envisioned in 2009 some Juneau investors who saw a Juneau energy problem. Juneau needed energy security and needed hydropower energy that was more secure from the Snettisham avalanche hazard zone. They also saw large electrical customers wanting low-cost and secure hydropower that were currently stuck on diesel. As they predicted years ago, Juneau has seen growth in the need for industrial energy, continued growth in electrical transportation and a growing demand to convert and transform fossil fuel based heating to sustainable, reliable, and locally owned hydropower facilities that are responsive to the needs and community values of Juneau.
