ZERA awards 100 MW solar project to Matshela Energy

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has awarded the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of the 100 MW solar plant called Matshela Energy – Gwanda Timber Farm Solar Power Plant to Matshela Energy (Private) Limited. 

Matshela Energy is owned by Matshela Koko, the controversial former CEO of South African power utility, Eskom. Koko is under pending criminal investigation amidst alledged irregularities at Eskom.
