Voltalia SA has achieved the commercial operations at its 32 MW/32 MWh Hallen Battery Energy Storage Scheme (BESS) located near Bristol, in the Avonmouth region, in the southwest of England.
The GBP15 million (US$20.3 million) system uses 16 lithium-ion battery modules with 2 MWh each and will be operating in several markets, providing frequency management, balancing, and other ancillary services to National Grid plc, serving both the national and local grid network.
