Tokyo Gas to buy 500 MW Aktina solar project in Wharton County

Tokyo Gas America Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., will establish subsidiaries (TG Aktina Holdings LLC and its subsidiaries) in the US for the acquisition of the 500 MWac/631 MWdc Aktina Solar Project in Wharton County, Texas, USA. Aktina has been developed by Hecate Energy LLC.

The solar power plant is strategically located near the high-demand Houston load center and has acquired its interconnection rights at 345 kV Hillje Substation through CenterPoint Energy. The generated power will be sold to the ERCOT wholesale market.

The construction of Aktina is planned to commence in Q3 2020, and Aktina is anticipated to be brought online in stages starting in mid-2021.

The acquisition is scheduled to close on August 5, 2020.
