South Africa’s University of the Western Cape (UWC) has opened a 4 MW solar and storage tender, with proposals to include a PV carport system and an online monitoring and management platform.
The required infrastructure projects are:
Construction of a 4 Megawatt peak (MWp) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for the UWC Main Campus residences, academic buildings, Unibell residence, and a carport solar PV system for the Chemical Science car park.
Deploy an online Energy Metering and Load Management platform, including both hardware and software, for monitoring and managing energy usage across the UWC Campus.
The operation and maintenance of the required Sustainable Energy Security Infrastructure installation should include not only routine maintenance but also provisions for the upgrade and replacement of technology as needed to ensure optimal performance and efficiency throughout the contract duration.
The Operations and Maintenance period offered by bidders shall be a maximum of 20 years from the date of issue of the Completion Certificate for the Infrastructure.
