The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has signed an investment agreement and power purchase agreement (PPA) with Dutch company Stone City Energy for the development of a 1,560 thermal power plant project in the Surkhandarya region.
Stone City Energy will design, finance, construct, commission, operate, and manage the US$1.2 billion thermal power plant project. The facility will have modern HL class steam and gas units built by Siemens Energy that can save up to 1.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually.
The project is expected to be operational by 2024.
