Six bids for 200 MW Kom Ombo solar project in Egypt

Six companies and consortia have submitted bids to build and operate a 200 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Egypt.

Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, a subsidiary of ABG Group, bid to sell the power produced by the Kom Ombo plant, to be purchased by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for 25 years, for 2.791 cents per kWh. ​Scatec Solar bid 3.0 cents per kWh.

Three consortia bid for the project. El Sewedy, EDF and Marubeni proposed a PPA price of 3.15 cents per kWh, Actis Energy and Enerpal bid 3.5 cents per kWh, and Orascom and ENGIE proposed to sell the plant's output for 3.4 cents per kWh.

The lowest bid was submitted by ACWA Power, who revised its initial bid of 2.799 to 2.752 per kWh.
