The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) has approved the proposed 200 MW solar photovoltaic project of Savion LLC.

The project will be built on approximately 1,200 acres on the old Martiki mine site in Martin County. Once operational, the project will be connected to Kentucky Power’s 138-kilovolt Inez Substation and will power up to 33,000 local homes.

Savion will invest up to US$231 million to develop the project that is targeted for commissioning by early 2024.
