RWE Renewables has started the commercial operation on its Scioto Ridge onshore wind farm with an energy capacity of 250 MW in Ohio, USA.
Located in Hardin and Logan Counties, the project features 75 turbines provided by Siemens Gamesa, from which 63 wind turbines are SG3.4-132 and 12 are SG 2.6-114. The SG 3.4-132 components will have an output of 3.465 megawatts and a rotor diameter of 132 meters. Siemens Gamesa is also providing 10-year service and maintenance for the wind project.
CEO of RWE Renewables, Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath, said: “The state’s location in the heartland of the U.S. offers ideal conditions for renewable energy and we are happy to bring this project online which can provide clean energy for more than 60,000 households.”
It is the first onshore wind project in the state of Ohio done by RWE. The total investment in the wind farm is more than USD300 million.
