RWE Renewables is partnering with Facebook Inc and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to develop a 150 MW solar photovoltaic project in Tennessee.
The solar farm will be built near Millingyon in Shelby County. Facebook has contracted a 110 MW portion of the solar project to power its data center operations in Gallatin and the broader Tennessee Valley. TVA will also be purchasing the remaining power from the solar plant via a long-term power purchase agreement with RWE.
The construction of the US$140 million solar farm is expected to start in the middle of 2022. The project is expected to be operational by late 2023.
