Avangrid extends power purchase agreement with Xcel Energy for MinnDakota wind farm Avangrid, the Iberdrola Group in the United States, has extended its long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Xcel Energy for electricity produced by the 150 MW MinnDakota wind farm, located on the border between Minnesota and South Dakota.
MinnDakota will thus continue to supply electricity to the US utility holding company and enable it to continue providing renewable wind energy to customers in the region.
The facility has helped to supply energy to thousands of homes and businesses, contributing to the local community by creating jobs and funding various public services through tax revenues.
The wind farm consists of 100 GE 1.5 MW turbines in Minnesota and South Dakota, spanning across approximately 15,000 acres of land. It supports 9 full-time jobs in the community for operation and maintenance. Since it was built, the project has paid about US$10 million in property taxes, which support a variety of public services in the area.
