Ørsted’s U.S. onshore company, Lincoln Clean Energy (LCE), issued the ‘Final Notice to Proceed’ on its 230 MWPlum Creek wind facility in Wayne County, Nebraska. The milestone follows Ørsted Board approval of the final investment decision.
LCE has entered into long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) for the facility’s power with The J.M. Smucker Company, Vail Resorts and Avery Dennison Corporation.
The project is located in Wayne County, Nebraska, and is expected to come online in 2020. It is expected to generate enough renewable energy to power up to 100,000 U.S. homes each year.
Once operational, the Plum Creek Wind project will create high-paying local jobs and will result in over $3 million in local community benefits annually in the Wayne County area. This includes much needed property tax revenues, with some of the largest beneficiaries being the Norfolk and Windside school districts.
Construction work alone is expected to create approximately 250 temporary jobs and 7-10 high-paying permanent jobs overseeing operations and maintenance.
E.ON will build a new onshore wind farm in the USA. The 440-megawatt Big Raymond wind farm in Texas is the largest single-phase project E.ON has ever completed in the United States. The investment amounts more than 500 million US Dollar.

Enel, through its US renewables company Enel Green Power North America, Inc., has started construction of two new wind farms in the USA totaling around 300 MW of new renewable capacity. These two latest projects are the 66 MW Whitney Hill wind farm in Logan County, Illinois and the 236.5 MW White Cloud wind farm in Nodaway County, Missouri. These new wind facilities, together with Enel´s two solar projects being built in Upton County, Texas, bring the company’s total renewable capacity under construction in the country to around 1,250 MW.
