Ørsted has started the optimization project for the plant. This involves the installation of a flue gas condensation facility in order to exploit the residual heat in the flue and thus make the plant more efficient. The facility will reduce the consumption of wood chips and wood pellets at the site by about 20%, but maintain the heat supply to the Danish municipalities of Herning, Ikast and Sunds. Ørsted has also entered into a 15-year deal for the supply of direct heating with local utility companies
