ORIX Corporation has announced that it has commenced construction of the OR Yamaguchi Mine Solar Power Plant, a utility-scale solar power plant with a maximum output of 56.4 MW, located in Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.
The plant will consist of 205,172 solar panels installed over an area of about 116 ha. It is expected to generate up to 65 GWh annually, equivalent to the annual power consumption of approximately 18,000 households.
Orix has contracted Toda Corporation and Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation to undertake construction.
Operations are scheduled to commence in October 2021. Upon completion, the plant will be the largest of all the utility-scale solar power plants developed and operated by ORIX to date.
