The North Dakota Public Service Commission approved a certificate for site compatibility for the 300 MW Aurora Wind Project, proposed by TradeWind Energy Inc., located in the northwestern part of the state.

The project involves the installation of up to 121 turbines at a 44,000-acre (17.8-ha) site near the city of Tioga, Williams County, and the construction of a 345-kV transmission line from the project’s site to a substation in Mountrail County.

Construction on the wind facility is expected to begin during the second quarter of 2019, with commercial operation by the end of 2020. The project's estimated cost is US$385 million.
