Neoen SA has signed a seven-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement with AGL Energy Ltd, for the 100 MW/200 MWh Capital Battery energy storage project in Canberra, Australia.
AGL Energy Ltd. will offtake up to a 70 MW portion of the project and will virtually charge and discharge energy to its customer at any time over five minutes trading intervals. Under the agreement, Neoen will provide AGLEnergy with 70 MW / 140 MWh of virtual battery capacity in the New South Wales (NSW) region of Australia’s National Electricity Market.
The project consists of 627 lithium-ion battery units and is expected to become operational in the first half of 2023.
The project has started the construction in December 2021 with Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co Ltd and Doosan GridTech being in charge.
Copenhagen Energy has proposed to build the 3GW Leeuwin offshore wind farm located nearly 15km-70km from the coast, within Geographe Bay.
