MoU signed for 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system in India

ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd (OTPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) for the development and construction of the 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system located in Assam, India.

ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd (OTPC) is a joint venture of Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC), Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited (IL&FS), and the Government of Tripura (GoT). The company implements a 726.6 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) thermal power plant at Palatana, Tripura.

The battery energy storage system project represents about INR20 billion (US$245.20 million) of investment.
