Iraq is planning to develop a 750 MW photovoltaic solar project in the southern Al-Muthanna Governorate of Iraq.

The federal government is committed to supporting Al-Muthanna with a large-scale solar project, in addition to several smaller-scale power plants to ensure adequate electricity supply in the governorate.

Recently, Iraq has taken steps to boost the use of solar energy, agreeing on three major projects with a combined capacity of 2.75 GW that will be connected to the grid in 2025.
