Developers announce awards totalling 500 MW in Polish renewables auction

Several companies have announced their success in the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) of Poland's latest renewables auction. Supply contracts were awarded to 31 wind and solar projects proposed by 23 companies, representing more than 41.997 TWh of electricity and worth approximately PLN8.24 billion (US$2.18 billion).

The PNE Group was awarded contracts for two wind projects: Barwice (42 MW) and Jasna (132 MW). Both are located in northern Poland and have been developed by the company's subsidiary WKN. Construction of the wind farms is scheduled to begin in the first half of next year.

wpd has won contracts for four wind projects with a total output of 102.5 MW. The wind farms, Jarocin Kożmin (17 turbines with 42.5 MW total generation capacity), Słupca Kołaczkowo (15 turbines with 45 MW), Jarocin Wschód (2 turbines with 5 MW) and Krotoszyn (4 turbines with 10 MW) are to be constructed in Central Poland by the end of 2020. 

EDP Renewables has secured a 15-year long-term contract to sell electricity to be produced by the Korsze wind farm located in the north east of Poland. The wind farm will have a total installed capacity of 38 MW.

innogy was successful with its proposed 33 MW Zukowice onshore wind farm in Lower Silesia and 52.5 MW Dolice wind project in West Pomerania. Financial Investment Decisions (FIDs) for both projects are planned for the beginning of 2019.

PGE Energia Odnawialna has been awarded contracts for three wind farms: Starza, Rybice and Karnice II with a total installed capacity of 97.17 MW. The installations will be located in the north-west of Western Pomerania between 3 and 13km from the coastline of the Baltic Sea. In total, 33 wind turbines with a capacity of 2 MW and 10 turbines with a capacity of 2.2 MW will be installed.
