Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) and Hydro, a Norwegian industrial company, have entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply power to Hydro Cressona, an aluminum extrusion facility in Pennsylvania, starting in 2022.
The deal consists of about 48 MW of power generation and is the first long-term energy contract signed by Hydro in the USA. The PPA contract covers energy generation from CPV's 100 MW Maple Hill solar photovoltaic project. The PV plant is located in Portage and Summerhill, Pennsylvania. It consists of a 530+W solar panel and bifacial solar modules.
CPV has started the construction of its solar project in June 2021. Once operational, the 100 MW PV plant will offset up to 100,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
