Shortly after receiving approval (Autorización Administrativa Previa) for the 169 MW Olmedilla solar project in October 2020, Hive Energy has received both environmental and planning approval for Olmedilla’s sister site called Sabinar. Sabinar adds another 169 MW to the collection of projects planned in Cuenca, Spain, and is planned to be followed by a third project, Sabinar Extension, which would add a further 83 MW of capacity.
The Sabinar project is planned to cover an area of 333 hectares with construction anticipated in summer 2021. Once completed, the collection of three projects will generate 421MW of clean, renewable energy significantly contributing to Spain’s Energy Strategy to achieve 100% renewable electricity generation by 2050.
The three solar parks together mark the continued roll-out of Hive Energy’s 2.5GW pipeline of solar projects worldwide.
