With the completed assembly of the rotor blades, the first wind turbine in the Trianel wind farm Borkum II (TWB II) has been completely erected. Two more wind turbines are to be installed and put into operation in the coming days. By the end of 2019, EWE and Trianel intend to fully commission the offshore wind farm with 32 wind turbines and a total output of 200 MW.

At the end of June 2018, construction work on the Trianel Borkum II wind farm started with the first pile of piles. In early December 2018, the foundation work was completed with the setting of the 32nd monopile and transition pieces on schedule. The laying of the inner-park cabling had begun in September 2018, which was also completed on time at the turn of the year. Since the beginning of 2019, work has been carried out on the commissioning of the electrical installations in the transition pieces and connection with the internal transformer platform. The start of installation work for the wind turbines, which was originally planned for mid-April 2019, had to be postponed due to the insolvency report of the plant manufacturer Senvion.

In addition to EWE AG, which holds a 37.5 percent stake, a joint venture of Elektrizitaetswerk der Stadt Zuerich (EWZ) and Fontavis AG holds a 24.51 percent interest in TWB II. The Stadtwerke-Kooperation Trianel together with 17 Stadtwerke from Germany hold a share of 37.99 percent.
