SSE Renewables' has installed the first turbine at the 28 MW Chaintrix-Bierges and Velye wind farm in the Grand-Est region of France.
Siemens Gamesa has successfully managed the installation of the first turbine at the Chaintrix-Bierges and Vélye wind farm. They are providing and installing eight SG 3.4-132 MW wind turbines for the project. This is SSE’s inaugural onshore wind farm construction in France and the first outside its primary UK and Ireland markets. The remaining seven turbines are set to be installed shortly. The development of this wind farm involves a total capital investment exceeding EUR 30 million (US$ 33.2 million) by SSE Renewables.
When complete, the wind farm will be capable of generating enough low-carbon energy over its expected 30-year lifetime to power over 14,000 homes annually.
