Assets management and investment firm Exus Management Partners will lead the repowering of the 240 MW wind farm project in Illinois.
Vitol owns and operates the 240 MW Big Sky wind farm bought from a BlackRock-managed fund. Exus will now be a part of Vitol's US$240 million plan to upgrade the project for an additional 60% energy output by 2022.
Under the agreement, the wind farm's 114 turbine generators from Suzlon will be replaced by newer hardware by Vestas Wind Systems. The repowering will be completed by the end of 2022.
