Engie SA together with its partners Meridiam and FONSIS (Senegal’s Sovereign Strategic Investment Fund) has commissioned two solar farms with a combined capacity of 60 MW in Senegal.
The projects are the 35 MW Kahone Solaire and the 25 MW Kael Solaire solar farms, located in the Kaolack and Diourbel regions, respectively. Both projects are part of the Scaling Solar programme of the World Bank Group. The developers have secured the projects after placing a bid below EUR0.04 (US$0.049) per kilowatt-hour.
The solar farms will operate under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with local electricity company Senelec.
